Question:

Can an exhaust system blow a engine?

I have a 1998 Mercury Tracer. I recently got a new exhaust: muffler, pipe, and gasket. (Cat back) could this new exhaust blow the engine? Because a day after I had the exhaust done, my mechanic said the cylinder of my engine blew up. Could this be because of a bad exhaust job?

Answer:

It could be an Aussie automobile. They have not made a Falcon in the states because 1970. If this is an computerized transmission it may be the modulator valve . If the valve leaks transmission fluid would be sucked into the engine and reason smoking. that's a small can related to the returned or each now and then the area of the trans with a hose related. in case you pull off the hose and spot transmission fluid that's your subject.
No. If the exhaust is bad or blocked the engine will either run poorly or not at all. The engine will not run long enough to blow.
No the exhaust would not cause that unless they put on like dual 3/4 pipes very small. And i doubt that is the case.
