I have a 1989 Boneville SSE. I need to replace the brake pads. The car is driven to work and back. The drive includes a very curvy mountain road that requires moderate to heavy braking, but only on the rerurn trip. If I use ceramic brake pads, is it possible for heat to build up and warp the rotors (anymore than semi-metallic)? I prefer ceramic due to the lack of brake dust.
Bad.Is mator ? Is a rotor that speeds so much?!
Two major causes or warpage from high heat are lugs overtightened (always use a torque wrench), and rapid cooling (water). Other than that, I wouldn't worry about it.
There is NO spray on goo that will clean your carbs. You have to take them off, apart and to a shop that actually cleans carbs ( probably not your bike dealer). These go in a bath of fairly toxic liquid and then come out CLEAN! I don't think you will have to replace them. Beware of the needle in the carbs. These are very expensive to replace. Good Luck.
Considering the temperatures needed to manufacture a rotor, your ability to heat one enough to warp it is pretty much nil, They may wear the rotors down a little faster,,,,or not.
Seafoam is ok, but I ve taken many motorcycles, lawn mowers a snow blower all of which would barely run or not idle without the choke on, drained the gas and filled the tank with Coleman Fuel, yes camp fuel. And sometimes within minutes it was running great. Other times it took a while letting it idle then rev it up, idle and so on and have had excellent results and never took the carb off or apart.
