Doing a school project for can crusher.I have the linkage to the jaw figured out.PROBLEM:I want the back part of the base (like tongue) to flick the flattened can out of the quot;mouthquot; on a return stroke. I can't think of a way to bypass the quot;tonguequot; on a down stroke. I've been pulling my hair out for a week. I can't use gears in this system cams are ok. Thank you for any help.
Commercial can crushers have a spring at the back that holds the lower cans against the front when the crusher is up and when the can is reduced in height do not apply pressure so that can will drop out a slot in the bottom that is too small for the uncrushed can.
Don't bypass the tongue, use the down stroke to push it against a spring and engage a latch. Use the top of the upstroke to kick the latch loose.
