The recent cold snap caused the water in the pipe to the shower to crack and, once it was warm enough, the shower control know fell off and water kept gushing out. I have shut off the water to the entire house. The kind of shower fixture I have is one where you can hold the shower head/handle in your hand. The knob that turns it on/off and hot/cold is what broke off. Is it possible for me to replace that section by myself or do I need a plumber for something like that?
Get a small space heater it is much more efficient than trying to warm an entire house. And then of course, pile on more layers of clothes.
Yes! I thought I was a medium in shirts, apparently I'm an extra large
If you dont know how, I would take it to a shop that specializes in car alarms.
Thick blanket over windows, and aluminum foil for good measure. Heating in your room, burning candles is good too. Electric heaters if you are home to monitor them, so they don't set your house on fire. (if they're on too long they can overheat)
