Question:

Can I hookup my 19 LCD PC monitor to my Time Warner cable box with a VGA-to-S-Video Converter/Adapter/Thing?

I don't even know if that is real or exists, but is there a cable or cord or adapter or connector or convertor or something that will allow me to utilize my Time Warner cable box that is just sitting on the floor in my living room, with no TV to hook up to? I have an overabundance of monitors sadly - two LCD awesome PC monitors, and only one usable computer, so one is collecting dust, not getting used. If there is a way to do this, I'm all ears! Thanks so much, I need/miss television.

Answer:

You could always get a TV capture card and then watch TV on your computer. Get a new video card with dual outputs and you can connect both monitors up at one time.
I think your LCD monitor has a DVI plug or port and I think your cable box has a HDMI port on the back of it. Go to a Best Buy or Radio Shack and buy a cable that has DVI male and at the other end HDMI male. Plug the DVI end to the monitor and plug the HDMI to the cable box. There is no S video adapter for VGA. You probably won't get audio, so you might want to get a pair of speakers or use the ones from your computer. I think there is a phone jack on your cable box, that's where you connect your speakers to. If there is not one there. When you are at Radio Shack, you should ask the salesperson about head phone jack to a phone jack aka audio jack for your cable box. If that doesn't work just go by a tv the adapters and converters are too exspenive. If you don't think there are some links to converters that I think that will help and links to where tv's that are cheaper than the converter.
