Question:

Can I repaint wash basin that has been fired and glazed?

I bought an old wash basin (pitcher and bowl) from a flea market. Its ugly as hell. I wanted to know if I could paint over the glaze and re-fire it. I don't really care for the design in it either. Is there an easy way to sand it out, or can I use slip? Thanks.

Answer:

Try some Epoxy spray paint for a base and then hand paint or redo the origional designs-then use a good clear sealer. try it on the pticher first as the inside holds the water and only needs the epoxy paint (if any). Otherwise take it to a pottery shop and see what ideas they have. They may redesign the decor of pieces and re fire them. Dr. Tommy Skelton
Yes you can. My sister did her kitchen sink. Even though this is a basin, the procedure is about the same. You will have to go to home depot or lowes and ask for the kit. they will also give you good tips on how it's done. It may take some time, but it's worth it
