Question:

Can I use the CHI 44 Iron Guard for blowdrying as well as flat ironing?

I know that it says to use on dry hair and for an iron right on the bottle, but can this spray be used on damp hair when blow drying like other thermal sprays? I mean, I'm pretty sure my blow dryer has ceramic plates, too, so it should work really well, right? any advice will be appreciated :]

Answer:

and don't use a brush when working with acidToo much splatterI prefer to use ScothBrite pads (the purple ones)Cuts down on the amount of acids that you have to use too.
Dove and Tressemme are baad They're cheap and detergent based productsBest to stick with the professional productsBut yes, it would do the same job for protecting your hair against heat.
I use hydrofluoric acid - this is very fast but also very corrosive of peopleUse with care, I use undilutedThe results are almost instant and any remaining acid is flushed off with copious water - very tarnished areas can benefit with a good scrub while applying the acidWear gogglesI have had good results with phosphoric acid too - it is still pretty aggressive with people but you wouldn't be using an acid without taking all due care would youWear gogglesThis acid takes longer to actI apply at 20% though so that may have some bearing on thatI only found the phosphoric due to spilling it on a 4x4 that I was repairing the rust on that had chequer plate aluminium panels fitted - owner got me to do the lot then!! :) The aluminium will oxidise again quickly so if you want to prevent that, on a wheel or something you will have to apply polish or lacquer immediately the surface is dryBe certain all acid is removed from any aluminium as it will keep etchingI use a high pressure water cleaner which also blows any verdigris off, it is then worth a careful look for any cracks or pin holes (pay attention to welds, especially internal stringers/frames) as these will never be more obvious The oxidization of a natural aluminium hull is just the way the material forms a protective coating - it is not necessarily a bad look I do not like painted aluminium boats - I have had to spend too much time fixing them commercially - but that's a personal phobiaBe careful with any acid wash.
