Question:

can I use window film on window behind wood stove (heat problem?)?

I want to use some decorative window film on a window behind a wood stove for privacy (like making it frosted), but I am concerned that the heat may affect it. I need ideas on what might be used for making the window less see-through, that are heat resistan, if not. Would a spray fog type fogger for windows, or a glaze work with heat involved, or would it melt ?

Answer:

Yeah I would just go ahead and try it. I'm thinking the film will probably shrink or curl a little but I don't see that it would be a fire hazard, assuming your heater is far enough away from the window. I like the paint on privacy film better because I can never cut that plastic stuff straight!
Window Behind Stove
the smart answer can only be given with the size of your house and location of wood burning stove.... wood stoves have no thermostats,,, so if your buying wood in the end you ll loose money an concentrate your heat in one area... central heat is controlled an efficient but if you have a free wood source go wood till it runs out at this time of year its all about the $$$$$
Decorative window film should be fine. Clean it with straight vinegar weekly when running the stove. You may have so change it out after a time but it should withstand the heat. They are meant to go over windows whit the hot sun blaring in after all.
Why not put it on the Outside, instead of inside the room? Also, you can get frosted Plexiglass and place that outside the window, You could bead it in place with silicone, The film should be ok though I assume your stove is about 24 from the wall,? I have a window also but it's just to the right of the stove and no problems with film I have used in the past. as long as it's not too close your good
