Question:

Can normal sunglasses offer any protection from a 50mW laser?

I bought a focusable 50mW laser. I'm a little paranoid about using it without protection, but I was wondering if maybe a pair of Oakley sunglasses or something of that sort would offer protection, rather than spending another $50 for goggles. Also, not that I would be doing this, but if it accidentally got a direct hit in someone's eye, is that little flash enough to blind them? Or would you have to shine it in their eye for a certain period of time?

Answer:

walkling under ladders and sniffing paint. - accidently dropping a paintbrush on your foot! ouch!
I wear Lightning Rod Jeans and have still yet to be struck by lightning. I thin he's messing with me.
There's no law requiring you to leave before the firemen get there. Once they are there and tell you to leave, you must. You can not hide from them in a shower. They are trained to search for people. It's their job to make sure everyone gets out safely. They should not have to risk their lives going back in once the fire gets worse because you wanted to wait it out. .
