Our boiler's pressure is sitting around 3 and the overflow is constantly leaking, our plumber said it was the expansion vessel so we had that changed but now it is still leaking. The plumber now says it is the heat exchanger but this is a very pricey part, Does anyone know if it sounds like that or something else???
for a start, the boiler pressure shouldd be NO more than 2 bar, unless you have bad pressure where you are. if the pressure is ok then you can reduce the pressure to 1.5 bar. your plumber is either cheating you or he/she does not know how to fix the problem. in my opinion, all you would have to do is release the pressure by bleeding one of the radiators until you obtain a satisfactory pressure of 1.5 bar and the dripping will stop. also make sure that he has not left the filling loop valve open as this would keep the pressure up as well.

Your boiler water pressure should be set at 11/2 to 2 bar when it is cold. The pressure will increase as the boiler heats up. This is normal as hot water expands. If your pressure keeps increasing to 3 bar then there is a fault with the filler Tube which you fill the boiler pressure with. Make sure the valve is fully in the off position. If it continues to rise, then the filler valve is letting by, and needs to be replaced.
