I recently bought this chair from a furniture dealer in South-East London. Got a good offer and bought the chair purely on aesthetic value
The chair design is called a four back ladder chair because of the four horizontal slats on the back. I want to say that it came from Denmark based on the curved seat design, possibly a Hans Wegner, but I really don't know that for sure. I would guess it's from the mid to late 50's.
mom says it looks like it is from the 1950's and either is / or is a copy of - Duncan fife style funiture came in a set with a table - yours is the captains chair the dad sat in it would make a good desk chair - worth about twenty dollars american
