I just wanted to ask if me and my other half could perform a nikah.we 1 year ago, when i went on holiday in spain. we met after 10 years and we both liked each other, however we lived within the family and did nothing haram as we were never alone. his parents will not agree with the marriage and my parents are not agreeing due to family problems that have nothing to do with me and him. we are not allowed to get married in there eyes as we are 'naraz' even though he is a perfect spouse and my family will not let me marry him due to family problems, they are all being extremely selfish and cannot see that we love each other and just want to get married. we both asked out parents straight away and they declined us. so i would just like to know if me and him are allowed to perform nikah without our parents there, as it has been a year now and we would like to get married but we know the family will not agree.
Where do you live? And how old are you? If you're in America or Europe, or in some North African Muslim countries, and you reached the legal age (adult), you can marry who you want! A woman can still marry a man through the Imam of the Mosque who will act as her Wali. Both parents have no logical or acceptable excuse to not allow this marriage. It's your life, not theirs. Go ahead and take your own destiny in hand - with the help of God!
