we found a large area rug that we'd like to use in our bedroom, but it takes up more than half the room. is it possible to cut it to fit into the corner under our bed so it looks like it was made for that?
I had a shag rug that was about 6 too large for my bathroom, I folded it under, put the folded side along the wall, there is nothing on top of it to hide the fold, but it does not look too obvious. I also thought of cutting it and putting hot glue over the cut edge to stop fraying, but after I folded it under, I decided I could live with it that way.
You might change your mind in winter when your feet hit the coldfloor and you need to buy smaller rugs to put you feet on. But yes you can cut the larger rug down. First undo the border that keeps the rug from unraveling and save it for reattacment . then cut the rug down to the size you wantusing the approreate type of cutting tool. then start sewing the border back on. cutting of the excess length. and finshing the neddle work .
Most rugs have some sort of border that keeps the from unraveling. If you cut the rug, it could start to unravel and the cut edge or edges would look pretty bad. If that's going to be disguised by the bed, then it's okay.
NOT REALLY...BUT YOU SAID IT WAS TOO BIG FOR THE ROOM...SO WHAT YOU CAN DO IS CUT THE RUG ON THE SIDE OR END THAT WILL BE UNDER THE BED......ANOTHER PLACE YOU COULD CUT IT WOULD BE ON THE WALL WHERE YOUR DRESSER WILL BE....YOU SEE WHEN YOU CUT A RUG LIKE THAT THE EDGES WILL FRAY AND IT WILL LOOK TERRIBLE....THAT HY I SAID IN THOSE ARES BECAUSE YOU WON'T BE WALKING IN THAT ARES SOS IT SHOULDN'T FRAY ON YOU...MAKE SURE YOU USE A NEW BLADE IN THE RAZOR KNIFE YOU ARE GOING TO BE USING USE YOU GET A NICE SMOOTH CUT...PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU ARE DOING WHEN CUTTING...IT WOULDN'T LOOK VERY GOOD WITH YOUR BLOOD NOW IT..............
Sure but you would have to hide the cut side or put a border on it.
