Question:

can you make computers or machinery....?

out of solid gold? pretend like you have a limitless supply of gold. is gold a useful material more than other metals in machinery? can gold machines last longer? will computer chips or circuits operate with gold instead of other metals? if not gold then what is the best materials?

Answer:

you could make some machines out of just gold and it would be benificial since it doesnt rust. but Gold is expensive that is why it is economical to use other metals. another disadvantge to gold is that its very soft and ductile if the machine requires its material to be hard and stiff then intuition would tell you that gold wouldn't be a good choice. hope i helped
You are dreaming ! Not a bit of GOLD existed in commercial computer . Some gold plated parts might be found in old old computer products before 1973. At that time, very expensive IC used gold line welding to make chip connection.
Gold is the worst possible choice. It's not just soft (fine gold - 24kt), it's soft like lead. You CAN indent it with your tooth and a good bite, just like the old movies. You can bend a wire like overcooked spaghetti. The best materials? Steel, just like people use. Machines aren't made from it out of coincidence, it's because smart people chose the best materials.
