Can you use carbon fiber and fiber glass together?
Theoretically, can fiber glass cloth and carbon fiber cloth be used together to make a part? Is there a major structural disadvantage to this?

fiber glass glues at the same time fibers, carbon fiber is accessible in sheets like black rubber, you form it and bake it in a oven for it to treatment and harden, carbon fiber is the greater suitable of the two.
As a motorcyclist it is your responsibility it inspect your bike before every ride. There is not a lot of moving parts in your front brake system. You are the one at fault. Maybe you , wifee, your lawyer should sue your friend for dumping your 1200 mile bike. Stay in your cage.
If i were you I would definately seek some sort of compinsation for what you have gone through. Had you passed away (thank goodness you didnt) I bet someone would be all over that shop. They should have responsibility in this. Hire a lawyer ASAP! Your wife should be okay soon enough. But if it continues and causes her a lot of problems and stree than yes maybe she needs to seek professional help.

Carbon fibre is the stronger weight for weight, and the most expensive.An important difference in some situations is that the carbon fibre is electrically conducting,not as a current carrier,it's not that good,but it could be useful where a build up of static charges is to be avoided.With respect to using the two materials together,they would probably delaminate quickly under stress because their elastic moduli are very different;also be aware that carbon fibre is graphite and it is difficult to protect the material from surface wear,graphite golf shafts are light and stiff but the necks soon loose there coating in the golf bag ;after that you could use the bare areas to write with.
