Question:

hurt my knee running on cement...?

I've been icing it and elevating it since i hurt it 3 days ago. I had been running on cement a little over 3 miles. Its already starting to feel better so does that mean i can get back to running soon?

Answer:

yeah i think you can go back to running, just rest your knee for a bit longer. and also i bet your try sprinting and your leg got tired and you fell. that happens to me. but i always sprint to improve it really helps . sprint at the end.
KHFDRF DON't RUN ON CEMENT, RUN ON WATER XDDDDDDD That Is Healthier :) OR Your Knee CAPZZZZZZ!!!!! >.< I Am A Doctaaaah! Trust mehhh x
Depending the size of the cut you may have a possible infection. Clean it out good with peroxide. It will hurt to walk, bend, and touch because of your cut. I would ice it for 20 mins on and have it off for a while to keep the swelling down. If your not allergic to alieve/advil/tylenol or something like that try taking something. It can help with the swelling and the pain. If it's still swollen and it still hurts tomorrow you can call your doctor or go to the ER and get checked out. You may want to go to the ER tomorrow if it's still bothering you. I was at soccer practice and I fell and hit the ground and my knee smashed into the ground and twisted and I couldn't put any weight on it at all when I stood up.The trainer told me I just strained my LCL (on the outter part of the knee) but I think it was more than that as it still hurts now. I can't have my knee bent or straight for more than a few mins without it feeling like it's ripping when I unstraighten it or unbend it.
If you think that running on cement hurt your knee you need to make sure you have good shoes and maybe inserts to cushion the impact. I always like to run on grass when possible, so often I will run on the side of the pavement if it is not too rough. You can try out the knee, but go for a short distance until you are sure you are recovered.
Cement is the worst thing to run on. It doesn't absorb. In the future, try running on asphalt (blacktop/street). Next best is grass or soil. Also, you can get gel inserts in your shoes that absorb when you run. Buy new running shoes every 6 mos to a year depending if you run a lot or a little. I follow all this advice I just gave you.
