Car question… cams and headers? Air intake?

Hi guys im looking to buy an early 90s 5.0 mustang and many of the descriptions say they have cams and headers what are these? Also, what are some other terms you think I should know if I am looking to buy one of these cars

Answer:

A piece of bicyle inner tube or a piece of a garden hose placed on the pipe and a hose clamp tightened securely will last for a long time and work much better than epoxy or JB weld.
Definitely NOT plumber's putty -- that's designed to go (for example) between a faucet body and the sink, and just mush into place. It has essentially no strength. I'd go with the rubber-and-hose-clamp method, but the important word here is temporary. If a hole developed in one spot, other holes will come along soon.
high lift or re-profiled cams that give more power often give unreliable idling or need a high idling speed , check the car out when hot , they can be undriveable as road cars
Just means more performance(headers) are what are before the exhaust. Cams are in the engine and lifters are what make the cam go round
All cars have cams, they lift the valves during air intake and during exhaust. However, the prior owner may have changed the cam lift and duration to improve performance. Headers are modified exhaust manifolds intended to improve exhaust gas flow. The real question is, Did this achieve any benefits? Only dynamo-meter testing will reveal the truth.
