Question:

Carpet cleaning products?

what is the best product to take out ground in dirt and pet messes my carpet is supposed to be green....its black in a majority of spots, and hard in other spots!i mean it doesnt have to be like 100 percent every stain taken outjust so it doesnt look so nasty, and i can actually have people over without them thinking im a slob, because im the complete opposite. my fiancee and and dont have the money right now to have all the carpet replacedand the previous owners (his family) obviously didnt care about the carpet, or cleaning for that matter.any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Answer:

Try this put a tiny pit of dish soap in bucket of warm water saturate spot. then rinse and blot. then make a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water saturate and rinse and blot and let dry. I know it sound difficult but it doesn't take long and works great on spots and animal accidents. I used it to clean up the accidents when housebreaking our dog and there is no more smell or spots.
Rent a Rug Doctor from your local Walmart or grocery store. You don't have to buy the cleaning solution, laundry soap and a *little* bit of bleach will get your carpet clean again.
Dirt is one problem, pet urine, and pet feces is quite another. You can use a scrub brush on a worst places in the carpet, then rent a carpet cleaner to finish the job. If your carpet smells like animal urine, you will never get the odor out. Just rip up the carpet and thoroughly wash the floors underneath.
Another alternative: take a peek under the carpet. You might have hard wood flooring under it. If so, just rip the carpet up. You'll have a gorgeous floor and it will cost you nothing. Even if the floor needs sanding and re-staining, you'll have a beautiful floor for a very small investment. You can rent Sanding Machines from Lowe's and Home Depot. And Stains don't cost much. Good luck. -
