Question:

Ceramic braces or metal?

Finally getting top braces. Should I get ceramic or metal braces? On ceramic braces, only the brackets are clear the wire is still silver, correct? I‘m aware that the rubberbands around the brackets stain. How easily do they stain? Do the brackets themselves get stained? Finally, do all patients with braces absoloutely have to have rubberbands around the brackets, or not? So many questions.

Answer:

Ceramic brackets are also more fragile and break a lot easier than the metal ones. Since the wire will still be metal, it just doesn't make sense to me to not have metal brackets since they are more efficient than the ceramic ones.
Clean the outside of the windshield with Ban Ami or something similiar. Chatter is often caused by wax from car wash water. Many car washes filter and reuse water, the wax gets thru the filters.
I have ceramic braces and yes the wire is silver. The rubber bands stain if you eat soups, red sauces on pastas and pizzas, and pickles. If you brush your teeth right after eating it will help prevent staining. You have to have rubber bands around the brackets to keep the wire in. The brackets do not stain.
Yep, the wire is still silver. I don't know exactly how easily they stain, sorry. My orthodontist did tell me that the ceramic ones can take longer to work, though. I don't know much about the ceramic ones other than that. For metal ones, if your orthodontist gives out the Damon braces system you will not need rubber bands. Even if you do get rubber bands, you can get silver ones which basically look like there are no rubber bands at all. Sorry I couldn't tell you much about the ceramic ones (I have metal)!
basically, one of the reasons for chatting is a dirty windshield or your windshield has an rain acid. If not, bend the arms of your wiper a little bit to have a pressure on the windshield wont chat.
