Question:

Ceramic vs. Metal Braces?

I‘m 25, and I‘m getting braces. And also, I‘m getting married June of next year. so I want clear braces for it, but they‘re more expensive and I know that they don‘t work as well as the metal. But I don‘t see many people my age with metal, I see them all with clear sooo I guess I‘m just wondering what your opinion is- anybody around my age who has braces what do you have? and would you recommend the same?

Answer:

Im 15 and i have metal braces. When i had them put on, a few, but not many people noticed. After the first week, nobody notices them anymore. Mine are coming off in 4 weeks, and as i have prom the next day, i was going to ask for them off anyway. Im sure you can ask for them off just for your wedding day. Congratulations on the wedding! 3
im only 14 but i have ceramic braces in the front and hardly anyone noticed when i first got them on everyone thought it was a retainer so they obviously work at hiding the fact that you have braces
I am 20 and have had both kinds of braces. I first got braces when I was 8, had them on for 6 years. Then I had to get them again when I was 16 and that's when I got the ceramic ones. The ceramic ones are nice because they aren't as noticable, the only thing you absolutely HAVE to be carefuly with is not to eat/drink anything with a ton dye in it, like red kool aid or anything, because the bands that go on the ceramic brackets are clear and absorb any and all color very easily.
If the wheels are fine, keep them until they get too small or too many flatspots.
