I rented fifty chairs for my in home wedding because I invited fifty guests. I am concerned that some people will not come and this will make the room feel empty. Should I not set up all of the chairs until the thirty five or so already set up are filled or just set them all up to begin with?
I would set them all up, because some people will put an empty chair between them and the next set of guests. And you certainly don't want to set up 35 chairs, and then 10 minutes before the ceremony starts have someone fooling around with setting up 15 more chairs, ya know? Set them all up, it will be fine. I would set them all up. Not setting them up just gives you one more thing to be concerned about, if more than thirty five people show up. You, the groom, and your families should be focused on the ceremony at hand not setting up chairs if the complete guest list should appear.
Did you ask your guests to RSVP? Either way, only set out chairs for those who you know will be there, with only a few extra (people will undoubtably bring an uninvited 'extra'). Have the other chairs stacked and ready to go either in a nearby room or just out of sight in your yard if the ceremony is being held out of doors. If you set up the chairs to begin with and then take them away if they aren't filled it, will definately make the room seem empty as people will notice how many chairs are taken away.
Wow I thought I was worrying about trivial details! No offense intended, Dearie. It depends on how many guests actually show up as to how many chairs I'd keep set up. I'd leave some extras out but not more than 3 or 4. Congratulations.
you should have all the chairs ready, have them all out. It will look strange if you were to get more chairs when the guests arrive making it look like you were not expecting them. I am sure there will be enough people to come to make it look more filled up even if not everyone will show up. It wont look bad at all, not every chair in the chruch gets filled up, it doesnt look empty. so dont stress about that, just have them all set up, it will look better that way. Congradulations
