Question:

changing rack and pinion on 97 monte carlo.?

where is it?what do i take off?what tools?can someone give me complete instructions on how to remove rack and pinion for 97 monte?

Answer:

You need a hoist, a fixture to hold the engine from falling out when the sub-frame is removed, more tools than most people own and about 5-7 hours of spare time. It is a difficult and possibly dangerous job and should probably be taken to a mechanic.
If you don't even know where it is, I wouldn't even think of attempting such a task.No one is going to be able to explain it in words here.
this is in all probability a 3100 engine. It takes 4.5 quarts of oil once you regulate the oil and clear out. The GM clear out is a pf 40 seven. you're able to choose a small clear out wrench to take the clear out off yet hand tighten the hot one. in maximum circumstances you do not save lots money by capacity of doing it your self.
sounds like to much for you to be doing
