Question:

Changing the bearings on a Krooked longboard?

Ok, so I've been longboarding for a while now and I've recently started doing more downhill stuff on my longboard and I have decided I would like to replace the bearings on my board from steel to ceramic. 1. Because ceramic apparently are much better and faster. 2. I have basically destroyed my steel bearings they are rusty and squeak. I know how to fix them, I've done it a few times and it works, but it's more for speed. I have a Krooked Zig Zagger board and 65mm Zip Zinger wheels. I want to know if you can replace the bearings without replacing the wheels aswell, because the wheels still have a lot of use in them?? Also, I want to join a longboarding crew or team in Adelaide, Australia, but I'm a girl so it's difficult. I know there is an all girls crew in the city, I'm all for ladies longboarding but after researching it I think they just cruise around not much hill bombing, whch is what I'm in to. If you're part of a longboarding crew, would you take a chick??Ohkays ta! xxx lt;3

Answer:

Put the wheel bout halfway on the axle u put the wheel on so one bearing is around it they simply tilt it and it'll pop out then do to other side then all 4 tires then put new bearing on wheel axle then put wheel on top then push down til you here a click sound then repeat to other side then all 4 wheels

Ceramics are the biggest waste of money. They are no different that regular steel bearings if you know how to take care of them. At the price of ceramics, you can buy 7 or 8 sets of Magic, MileHighSkate, or DBS bearings. Go browse the silverfishlongboarding forums and you'll understand. None of the longboarders will tell you get ceramics. Seismic Tektons or Abec11 BIltins are the most i'll ever spend on bearings.
