What would happen to the copper if the nail was changed over to the anode instead of the cathode? Would the nail start to coat the copper? - What does non - metals , semi - metals and metals actually mean on the periodic table?please answer and thank you xox Miss.Murder

There will be no reaction if the nail(Fe) was changed over to anode and copper as cathode Non metals can be gases and solids such as oxygen and carbon. They are very brittle and do not reflect light. They are not able to conduct heat and electricity. Semimetals are also called Metalloids. Metalloids have properties of both metals and non-metals. Some of the metalloids, such as silicon and germanium, are semi-conductors. Metals have the following properties: a) conduct heat and electricity b) malleable (can be hammered into sheets and shaped -- like coins and jewelry) c) ductile (can be drawn into wire) d) often shiny e) tend to lose electrons (become positively charged) in chemical reactions
