Question:

Chevy transmission slipping ?

So for a couple of months my 2002 chevy impala would always jump during turns and quick stops and then accelerating I thohgt it was a bad axel. Well today my car just revs up In drive if I put it in gear 2its able to slowly accelerate it let‘s.me switch gears in higher speeds and it runs perfect could someone pleas pinpoint what that problem in the transmission could be? Bad solenoid. do I need a flush a whole new tranny ? I would love the help becuz its stressing me out right about now

Answer:

Instead of having the people from this forum guess as to what is the problem, just get the trans checked out. It can be a sticky governor or plugged trans filter, wont know until someone actually checks the trans out in person and not over the internet. Take the trans to the pros. Good luck
Hi Bro check the transmission fluid level (have you noticed any oil leaks on your garage floor?) Sometimes low fluid level can cause that problem. Some cars its quite difficult to check the transmission fluid-the engine needs to be warm and the engine needs to be idling while you dip the dipstick. Please be careful make sure the transmission is selected to P and the park brake is securely applied before you start.
There are two bands near the passenger side of the transmission (inside the transmission of course). One of those bands is broken. Because you have been driving it other damage has occurred but that transmission is easy to repair. Take it to a GM dealer or a transmission shop. I guarantee they have seen this issue before as it is somewhat common. Make sure whoever repairs the transmission also flushes out the cooler and cooler lines as well.
