Question:

cleaning rugs?

how do you get dark spots out of my rug

Answer:

Always rub or brush lightly from the outer edge toward the center of the stain to prevent spreading or causing the ring when using solvents especially on twist rugs and pile carpets. On old, dry or stubborn stains, saturate, blot, and brush. Repeat this operation as often as necessary to remove the stain completely. If you have expensive area rugs then you may want to keep a little box containing the following close at hand: Dry cleaning fluid, Clean Cloths, White Vinegar, Mild Detergent (containing no alkalis or bleaches), Alcohol, Sponges, Clothes brush, Weak Ammonia 7% solution.
You may have to use more than one application, but it is very effective on both stains and odors!!
I use the 409 carpet foam stuff and it works wonders! My puppy has a habit of running around in dirt and it gets all over my carpet ... I usually spray the spot let it sit for about 15 min and then rub it out and spray again and rub it out of course. It has worked on everything so far. Even dog throw up/poop/pee and my husbands grease covered shoes when he is done working in the garage! =)
If your talking about dog stains use white vinegar. My puppy pees on our white carpet all the time (she's being toilet trained) and my mum rung the stain removal people and they said use straight white vinegar and it works
