Question:

Cold air intake and throttle body questions?

so ive decided to buy a cold air intake and a throttle body for my 2000 mustang from americanmuscle when i get the money. just some quick questions before i do though Does the cold air intake really increase the chance of engine flooding? because it flooded a bit here about a week ago and there was some huge puddles, and im scared if that happened again while i had a cold air inake it would suck up the water and the engine would be gone. How does a throttle body increase horsepower? and how much hp would be gained with a throttle body and a cold air intake? Are there any dangers with the throttle body or the CAI?how much would it cost to get a CAI installled? and a throttle body?thanks in advance.

Answer:

when you say flooding what is meant to be said is hydro-locking which is what happens when your intake sucks in water and yes when you take away the air box and place the filter closer to the ground the chances of taking in water are greater
i very much doubt youll get them to fitif you do it will cost a hell of a lot more that the standard air suspension.
No. Shocks will not replace the air suspension system unless they have coil over suspension springs similar to a McPherson strut.
Does the cold air intake really increase the chance of engine flooding? therodically it shouldent it may run alittle lean or rich which can be adjusted once you have it all on. How does a throttle body increase horsepower? by adding a larger tb it will allow the vehical to suck in a bigger air/fuel ratio that will then be combusted in the same size cylinder thus creating a bigger compression ratio (this add on will most likely blow a head gasket down the road, due to the factory was not building the car for the new compression ratio) how much hp would be gained with a throttle body and a cold air intake? this questions hard to answer because every cars different and im not sure how much bigger of a tb your installing it could be anywhere from 25-60hp bases on little info. Are there any dangers with the throttle body or the CAI? like mentioned before your going to have a higher compression ratio than the factor had designed the engine for and a head gasket will almost gaentee to fail sooner or later. P.S. INSURANCE DOES NOT COVER SHOP BILLS IF ITS BEEN ALTERED WITH AFTERMARKET PARTS. how much would it cost to get a CAI installled? and a throttle body? no clue i only do factory work for GM
