Cold Air Intake for my volvo?
The answerers above all make good points!!!!!
All good points before me but also if the wing was able to flip forward it would flutter while drafting causing the car to become very unstable. especially going into the turns.
The proximity of the intake hose to the Hot parts in the engine bay completely overrides the cold air intake. Just stick with the stock air box add a KN filter element. Advise:Opt for exhaust upgrade along with a performance chip.
This is going to push a lot more air through your system so if you increase the front end than you have to open up the back end meaning better exhaust as well. It makes no sense just to put an air intake system on a car. Also, contrary to popular belief how is this going to save you gas more air means more gas and even a slightly higher idle speed. It does provide more performance but at the price of slightly decreased fuel economy.
A cold air intake works on the principle of allowing more air into the engine and keeping the air cool so you have denser air and can force more air into the engine. Your S70 GLT has a good intake system (look at the size of the intake plumbing). When you add a cold air intake, you'll get more noise out of the engine, but you can also damage the engine if you don't seal the system properly. Also, you may even decrease performance, because the factory system is designed for maximum efficiency. You are modifying a perfectly good air intake system. If you want more power from you car, I recommend opening up the exhaust system, putting in a new chip, larger fuel pump and a blow off valve for the turbo. These modifications will give you true performance upgrades, not just noise. Also remember that this is a front wheel drive car. All those extra horses may be too much for this chassis/drivetrain. Remember you're doing this to a Volvo S70 - a Swedish family sport sedan. Good luck!
