Question:

Cold air intake or other suggestions for my CL500 MB?

I have read some suggestions regarding cold air intake to get some extra hp for my 2003 CL500. I don‘t know anything about it and could somone recommend any specific manufacturer of these devices? Also could someone recommend chip tuning for my car? I tried to google that, but somehow only stuff for American Cars come up, or AMG, Brabus etc which are too expensive. I would like to increase the 306 HP of my car some 30-40 HP, without messing with the engine etc. what can be done and how much would it cost aprox. thxs a lot for the advice.

Answer:

Sweetie, do not mess with your car. You want 30-40 horses? That is like 10% increase. You will not noticed that different from 306 HPs. Now, the cold air filters at most, it will give you like 1% if so. These engines puts out a lot of horses as is stock, in a reliable, smooth, economical, powerful fashion. Now, you want more power? You need to get more $$$ more $$$ more speed. The question, is worth it? Nah! No a penny! People tends to forget how was to drive a car 30 years ago. They were gutless and really slow. We are talking a full size car of 4,000 lbs pulled by 150 HPs. Now, cars weight about half the size with 2 times the amount of power from the dealer's lot. Is a huge improvement. The intake on today's cars has a lot of engineering to it. Do you think an engineer will hinder the power of the engine? No a dam bit! But they test it on a wide range of conditions, from Extreme Cold to Extreme Heat. The Air Boxes are designed to have a wide filtering area, hidden enough to keep foreigner material off the filter, it leads to the outside of the vehicle in a hidden fashion so looks good on a clean design. My answer to you, is not worth it. But is your money hon, go ahead. If you can afford a car like that, you should not be Nickel and Dime it or be frugal with it. Beside you can do more with a Computer Mapping Modification without touching a bolt. These types of vehicles are bought by people that does not care about modding the engine. They have enough money that if they want performance they buy a Corvette or some like that. To find someone that can do the mod on the computer is tricky, maybe there are none on your area. The people that uses AMG stuff they might help on where to find a person that can mod the computer. But that is as far I will go with this car. Is nice as is. Any average car on the streets does not have that amount of power. Trust me on this one ;-)
my opinion is its fairly now not valued at it and many of the 'profits' you get are perceived from a louder consumption when you consider that its now not enclosed you desire a few acquire positioned a few top drift injectors, top drift pump and a nitrous package . could desire to spend money on a collection of road gummys
