Question:

Cold air intakes.?

Cars seem to get a boost in the winter and seem to lag in the summer.Any ideas on lowering intake air about 30 degrees for better fuel milege.

Answer:

Actually better gas milege is achieved with heating up the air as it comes in. When the air is warmer, its expanded more so the fuel molecules have an easier time mixing with the air. When the air is colder yes, a car does have more power, and that is because the air is more dense and allows more air to enter the engine. If your car is Computer controlled, you can unplug the intake tep sensor. ( an electrical connector on box where the air filter is located)
the cooler the air the better an engine will run, you could put a ram air set-up on your car for the summer to help, get the intake outside the car someplace like under the front bumper where it gets all the fresh air it can handle.
Place the air intake for outside air and insulate any ducting inside the engine compartment.
