What would be the price range for getting about 800 sq. ft. of carpet installed? Nothing fancy - just a basic good quality carpet.Do they charge extra to install on stairs?
I had some pros come and do My floor in the basement and my steps and it was only about 300 sq ft and it cost me almost $700 ...... You need to shop around and look for the best that you can afford and do only the rooms that need it!!
The store I work at sells carpet and I work in the flooring department. 800sq.ft. = approximately 89 sq.yds. carpet on special pricing costs about $20/sq.yd. $20 x 89 = $1790 pad runs $5.31/sq.yd. x 89 = $473 basic labor = $199 there is a $4.99 per step charge average is 12 steps 12steps x $4.99 = $60 total for the room is about $2522. That is for them to come in and install the carpet. that does not include removal of carpet or furniture moving. The pad at $5.31 is 8lb. with vapor barrier. Prices are subject to change in other areas of the country.
