Question:

Could've a WW2 US or English Turret or turretless Tank be made with a Molins or Molins style Auto Loader.?

The reason I believe a turret might not be used is the fact the Molins Auto loader made to punch out 24 6 Pounder Rounds looks to me too high to use in a turret but it would be better in offense with one. I know the US tried mounting a 75mm Gun in the B25 H Bomber that was similar thin walled cannon to the British QF 75mm Gun but I don't know if it included an auto loader, if it did it would be my choice? I think an assault tank utilizing an American 75mm (Used on M24 Chaffee Tank) or British QF turret mounted 75mm with an auto loader would've been a kick *** Close support vehicle. What do you think? Cheers John.

Answer:

The American T20 series medium tanks included a model with an auto-loading 75mm gun. So yeah, you could use an auto-loader although not necessarily the Mollins. The M6 gun in the B-25 was manually loaded BTW, and not terribly successful.
