If you sit on a couch and crawl "down" from it, do you crawl on the floor or to the floor? Or something else entirely?
Crawled on to the floor from the couch. That's what I think.
You're crawling TO the floor because you were originally on the couch. But if you're already on the floor you're crawling ON the floor :)
you could crawl down to the floor (down from the couch), or crawl onto the floor, and you could even crawl to the floor from the couch, but I don't think you could crawl on the floor unless you are already on the floor.
on if you are on the floor BUT if someone tells you CRAWL TO THE FLOOR it means that you need to crawl on another surface until you reach the floor , like stairs
