Question:

Describe the following cells and tell where you would see or use one?

A.Voltaic cellB.Dry cellC.Lead storage batteryD.Fuel Cell

Answer:

A voltaic cell is a device composed of two different metals immersed in an electrolyte, which produces electricity. For example, in some science projects, students will put a piece of zinc and a piece of copper into a bath of lemon juice or salt water to create electricity. Sometimes the term is also an abbreviation for a single cell of a solar panel. Dry cells are a device which converts chemical energy to electrical energy without a liquid electrolyte, for example, an AAA, AA, C, or D cell, but not a 9V -- it is literally a battery of six dry cells. A lead storage battery is another device which converts chemical energy to electrical energy. An example is the battery used to start a car, it differs from a dry cell in that it uses a liquid electrolyte. A fuel cell combines hydrogen and oxygen into water, and in the process creates electricity. They are a very new technology which is used in experimental research for potential use in automobiles. Hope this helps :o)
