I put dexron-III mercon automatic transmission fluid in my moter will that hurt it?
lol. why? Did you completely fill it up with atf or did you top it off? If you just topped it off then you can drain it and refill with oil. If you completely filled it then I would drain it, flush it and refill.
The problem I have with plugs is that you have to ream out the hole before inserting them. You already have a hole in the tire, why make it bigger? They work ok in large, heavy truck tires but on lightweight car and bike tires, oyu damage too many of the individual cords in the tire, weakening it. I've had lightweight car tires ruined by some smuck shoving a plug into it. I guess if you're in Montana and 80 miles from the nearest town, a plug is sure worth a try. Otherwise, if you're at home, take the wheel off and have it patched from the inside.
Let's seea $150 tire or my head going splat due to a blowout? At some point you have had, or will experience a blow out. Often times the only way to get to a dealer to replace the tire is to plug it. If you’re running steel belted tires, don’t expect the plug to last long., You’ll be lucky if you get 50 miles from either a mushroom or string plug, maybe longer with a bias-ply, maybe not. Bottom line is that once your tire has been punctured, it needs to be replaced as soon as possible. Unlike car tires, motorcycle tires don’t have the depth of tread to retain a plug for any length of time.
depends how much you put in.if it wasnt very much it might not hurt it.but to be on the safe side,i would drain it out and put motor oil in.
Automatic transmission fluid is formulated to work with clutches. Motor oil is formulated to withstand the extremely high temperatures in a combustion chamber and prevent itself from becoming acidic and eroding critical bearing surfaces in engine parts. If you added very little ATF to your engine, you might be lucky enough to have avoided any significant damage. If you have more than a quart of ATF in your engine, there might be significant damage to the engine if you have run it for an extended time period. If you changed your engine oil with ATF, and never started the car (or cranked it over for a VERY SHORT TIME), just flush it out with cheap engine oil; about 2 or 3 oil changes worth of oil. After the last oil change, drive around town for about 10 min. and change the oil again. Finally, after driving about 25 miles, I would change the oil one last time. Change the filter before and after the first set of oil changes, then after the 10 min. drive, then after the 25 mile drive.
