Question:

Do all prepackaged foods have preservatives/additives/artificial chemicals?

I am extremely allergic to artificial ingredients. For example I had Ramen Noodles the other day and passed out and suffered severe migraines because I didn‘t realize it had MSG. I had Baskin Robbins ice cream earlier today and am still paying the price with the worst headache in the world due to one of the additives in the ingredients. Do I have to give up on all pre-packaged foods if I want to avoid toxic chemicals?

Answer:

most pre prepared off the shelf products, contain preservatives ,to enhance the product ,salt for instance acts as a preserve,MSG is disguised as something other, the directions will say 132 , as if we know what that is ,unless we have access to the chart of substances yours is not an isolated case ,i know of several people who have the same reaction ,and usually make a restaurant aware of the problem, but its all care and no responsibility, because ingredients they use may contain substances that do cause harm, simple things like bottled sauce ( you might call ketchup ,we call tomato sauce ,still the same thing ) however once again is loaded with harmfull chemicals to the few like your self , so unfortunately you will have to prepare fresh all of the time
unless you purchase packaged ingredients like rice, quinoa, beans and lentils, nuts and seeds, dried fruits etc from your local health food store that are organic the short answer to that one is most emphatically Yes you will have a diabolical time trying to work out the ingredients in each and every packaged item inthe local supermarket because as consumers become more aware about the dangers of ingredients such as aspartame, MSG, colorings, additives, preservatives etc the manufacturers simply look for alternatives to call them ie MSG or hydrolised vegetable protein or yeast extract . they all have precisely the same effect as MSG then there's that 5% loophole thingie where if the added ingredient is no more than 5% of the finished product they Are Not Obliged In Any Way Shape Or Form 2 Even Proclaim It's In There !! Read a book called Additive Alert by Julie Eady fabulously informative. i feel your pain mate i'm coeliac, lactose intolerant, soy intolerant and intolerant to a plethora of chemicals they use to flavor and preserve our foods . so yeah, i can't eat from a package either the health benefits are amazing though once you get your head around eating a wide range of fresh fruits and green green vegies, some lean meats and fishes, nuts and seeds, lentils, peas, beans, brown rice foods rich in protein such as nuts and seeds and having some lean meats and fishes are good for helping with the pain of detoxing from sugar and other sludge that we get addicted to ;0) peace baby ?
