do custom built motorcycles in ohio require front brakes?
If you check your DMV/DOT you'll probably find a front brake required after about mid 1970s for bikes over 150cc. A custom bike titled afte that date will probably require one also. The kicker is a bike titled before that effective date may not be required to have a front brake- my old BSA chopper titled as a 1966 does not require front brake on the springer front end in Iowa. Older harley choppers same situation in most states -the federal transportation law didn't require front brakes until about early/mid 70 so captain ameica choppers mostly legal with early titles.
it's unlikely that there is a law requiring a front brake. while I agree it's foolish not to have one, that wasn't the question asked. I'm betting you want to show off a custom front wheel, and avoid covering it with brake disks. if it's primarily a show, bike that may work. If you want to actually ride it much, a front brake is essential.
It does not seem so. This is what I found: (2) Every motorcycle, when operated upon a highway shall be equipped with at least one adequate brake, which may be operated by hand or by foot. This is the source: codes.ohio /orc/4513.20 It was found by following a link from: bmv.ohio / The question was does he need a front brake, I have thumbed down every answer of opinion that didn't answer the question.
