Do homes in Thailand have gardens? What style? English? French? Balinese?

Answer:

I have Thai style garden. Mangos, Bananas, flower, lots of water and fish
yes- various styles just like your homes everywhere else gardens can vary from being large to small to non existant they can be manicured to landscape designed to general left alone and junk yards, some people often have a vegi patch to grow there own veg often they will have the odd papaya tree or mango tree or durin or jack fruit tree sometimes you will find a few dragon fruit or longons growing, maybe even a dog or 2 in the yard. one difference i would say is you can almost garrentee most gardens will have a small mini temple on a stand for Buddha !
Ours has Mango trees, flowers, a sort of moat around the outside (in part of which which we keep fish (to catch and cook fresh)) and in which there are also lotus flowers. The garden also has half a dozen or so massive Thai water jars. The garden also has a spirit house (for religious reasons) and a dog house (for dog reasons). From what others have written I guess this qualifies as Thai style. I'm not sure why we have the water jars - This page says that the water jars are about the quintessential role of water in Thai life so that must be it, we have a have them because its quintessentially Thai: www.thaigirl.in.th/article.php/Wa...
Lots of homes have gardens. Also in Bangkok. Those that have are usually either rich, or living in the suburbs or both. Style: whatever takes ones fancy. I find it noteworthy that almost everywhere flowers and plants are placed in pots. Not directly in the soil. Look at plants under the Skytrain, on the divider between the lanes. Most plants are in pots. The same you see in most gardens. No idea why. Perhaps the soil isn't too good? Or perhaps it's the Thai way.
Most homes have gardens. Most have Thai style gardens. In the north people have fruit trees. Lots of Mangos. Also lemon grass because its an herb used for cooking.
