Do i have iron deficiency?

I am a 14 year old girl and i think i have iron deficiency. My mother is anemic and has iron deficiency. I am always lightheaded and tired, i get easy worn out from throwing out the garbage. My nails are paper thin no matter what i do to help them. Do i have iron deficiency? And how do i take care of myself?

It sounds like your iron level may be low. You need to eat iron-rich foods like: peanut butter, fish, beans, bread, hot cereal like Cream of Wheat, orange juice, etc. Get your doctor to check your iron. You may need supplements. (:
Iron deficiency is NOT inherited. It is found on a blood test by the doctor, and goes away in 3 or 4 months after taking the prescribed iron supplement. There are many things that could cause these problems you are having. Would take your doctor to sort them out for you.
