my 80cc engine is under 5 brake horsepower so i don‘t have to get it registered or get any insurance but i no i need a driver‘s license but i don‘t know if i need a motorcycle license but if you drive on the side of the road whats the need for a motorcycle license your suppose to drive on the road like every one else but it doesn‘t have any signal lights so i don‘t know if i use my hand to signal or what it‘s over 50cc so i need a driver‘s license if it‘s under 50cc you still need a driver‘s license maby i can get away with a driver‘s license i use pedals to start it so it‘s a bicycle with a helper motor so let me know if i need a motorcycle license
As far as i can tell a moped is considered a bicycle with a helper motor in the nutmeg state provided: a. goes no faster than 30 mph b. displaces less than 80 cc c. has an automatic transmission d. less than 2 brake horse power e. and after 7/1/97 the need for pedals is deleted from the requirements. However the operator of this vehicle must possess a valid motor vehicle operators license or a motorcycle license. It would seem then that many 80 cc scooters would qualify under this amended rule. There is no need for a tag or insurance or emissions testing and i would assume no personal property tax.
A fire extinguisher and my computer.
If one is stuck in a fire, I don't think they are getting out.
its an extremely gray area you're in because of the fact 49cc is the max you may previously it desires to be registered or you prefer a bike license i think of, yet what makes it troublesome to tell is that it has pedals and is seen a moped or scooter, u could could desire to circulate to the dmv or refer to a dmv cop i assume
Screw the DMV, read the law: www.cga.ct /current/pub/chap24. Definitions: (52) Motor-driven cycle means any motorcycle, motor scooter, or bicycle with attached motor with a seat height of not less than twenty-six inches and a motor that produces five brake horsepower or less; (54) Motorcycle means a motor vehicle, with or without a side car, having not more than three wheels in contact with the ground and a saddle or seat on which the rider sits or a platform on which the rider stands, but does not include a motor-driven cycle, as defined in this section, or a vehicle having or designed to have a completely enclosed driver's seat and a motor which is not in the enclosed area; --- It doesn't care about the displacement, If you have 5 bhp or less it is a Motor-driven cycle, if it has more it is a Motorcycle. Damn I see why you have problems. www.ct /dmv/cwp/view.asp?a803. The DMV is out of date. Moped is not a legal term, and their links are broken. www.ct /dmv/cwp/view.asp?a810. . Ah! You need a driver's license for a Motor-driven cycle, for a Motorcycle you need a M-endorsement on your driver's license. As with most States, *any* motorized vehicle requires a driver's license of some sort to drive legally on the streets.
