Question:

do i have to use the heat exhaust on my stand up air conditioner?

I am using it in a room smaller then its built for and the windows here are too high and do not operate as the vent hoses are built for. is it dangerous? thanks

Answer:

Well, its not dangerous, but the air conditioner will NOT work if you just put it on a chair. The air conditioner is basically a refrigerator, or a heat exchanger. The pumps inside move the coolant outward so that it can cool and the heat a pumped outside via the coolant and ejected as heat using the fans outside, and hot air, by nature, rises, you HAVE to have it in the window by some means for it to actually give you any noticeable change in air temperature...... Basically, if you leave the door open in your refrigerator, you will get some cooling, but not enough to be effective....
