Do the fire alarms at school scare you?
Peel and stick is made for diy projects and is not a quality product, period. It is very thin and any imperfections under it will show thru. Removing the exiting tile and laying it would involve a lot of prep work and then in a basement its adhesion would be iffy at best. If you lay over the exiting tiles ( not recommended either ) use a floor patch first to take care of any imperfections and then spread a vynil tile adhesive to help the bond.
All the pretty stuff inside burns.. Like the wood and furniture. Sheets, blankets, paper.. you get the picture. If only we could make everything out of brickhmmm. Would this male friend be a fire fighter? Ow ow! : )

Everything inside of it like the wood and other flammable materials burn and sooner or later without the support of those materials the building will collapse.
I was in bed. My sister started a fire in the kitchen.
