Do things expand or contract with heat, what about the cold?

Yes, no insulation means a much colder/hotter wall and ceiling depending on the seasonThe mold problem is a combination of the wall/ceiling temp and the humidity in the roomYour lizard can not possibly be the problem unless there is some sort of moving water source, like an aquariumIf you run a humidifier or if there is a bathroom with a lot of showering going on just outside your room that could be a contributing factorIf your landlord is not helpful you can call your local health department and they will order the owner to remedy ASAP, or pay for you to live elsewhere until it is remedied.
