Question:

Do Volkswagen beetle bugs have bearings?

So I have a 2006 beetle bug and I noticed that my bearing sounds loose. I don't know however, if I have to replace just the bearing or since it's German, I need to replace the whole hub like an Audi. Does anyone know? Thanks! It's also the front left wheel

Answer:

it could be able to be repacked- IF the bearings aren't damaged. if they are- then it will be the whole hub.
Of course. Its German. Audi uses the sane parts
You can replace the bearings separately. Get a competent mechanic to remove the old bearings and press in the new ones. Rather replace both sides while you're at it - you don't want the other side to go a few months after the left side. Get original VW, or SKF, INA or FAG bearings. Some VWs (not sure about the Beetle, but probably) use the bearing as part of the wheel speed sensor. If that doesn't work, your ABS and traction control systems are disabled.
The answer is - yes - they have bearings - whether they are replaceable without the hub assy is the question. Lots of things on a front wheel can sound loose. brake pads or shims - suspension joints. if you jack the car up or put it on a lift try rocking the wheel from the top and bottom. If a wheel bearing is loose it will move. No movement the bearing should be ok. Rotate it - listen for noise - no noise probably ok. You should probably have a competent brake/suspension technician have a look at it.
