How are they helpful to the laptops? Please help me understand.
it all depends on your laptop. i just bought mine last month but it is low wattage and havent yet had to have a cooler. The more powerful your laptop, the more you wanna use a cooler. Faster processor;s us more energy, larger screen use more energy, and so on. I hope that helps. I have a toshiba 13 inch laptop with a celeron dial core( the least powerful pdual core processor made specifically for laptops) so thats why i dont need one.
I have one for my laptop, but my laptop is old and the inner cooling fan only works sporadically, so it starts to overheat and then I get weird error messages and sometimes programs won't work correctly. Overheating of the CPU can cause your computer to shut down.a measure that the computer does to protect its important components.
My laptop is a couple of years old, I don't use a cooling fan my pc is on always on high performance. I use it as a desktop at my bar, that way I don't have a bunch of wires bulky hardware. Anyways, laptop's been on for months only periodically gets rebooted, no problems thus far.
Laptops tend to run hot because it's 10lbs of material stuffed into a 5lb sack and there is very little airflow. The higher temps cause the components to fail more quicklyEspecially hard drives. Some stuff is heatsinked to the case, so a cooling pad that pulls heat from the case can help keep the internal temps down. It was a much worse problem with older designs, though. Newer stuff has better thermal management and the processors and memory and such are much lower power which lets them run cooler. A cooling pad could potentially increase the life of the laptop, but the laptop will likely be obsolete before long before it suffers thermal failure. For a hard surface like a desk or table it may be better to just let it sit on its little legs. A lap desk is a good idea for actual lap usage and some even come with fans that can plug into the laptop.
Cooling pads do just what it sounds like, they keep your laptop cool. Laptops have very little surface area to keep cool, unlike a desktop which has lots of room for fans to cool it down. A laptop has very few fans for intake and exhaust, so they invented the laptop cooler to give the bottom of the laptop more room to breathe. Some laptops cooling pads even have fans that push air through the laptop keeping it even cooler. New laptops are pretty good about having fans in the bottom as well as the sides but cooling pads are still a great idea to keep your laptop lasting for a while longer.
