Question:

Do you think studded highway tires should be outlawed or a studded tire use permit renewed each year?

I feel that if a person wants to use studded tire on the highway there should be a tax of $50.00 each year. I am from the mountain area of washington state and never have trouble with out studded tires. How do you feel about this?

Answer:

Most trainers will fit any size of bike, as the part of the trainer that rubs against the back tire is adjustable. One thing to keep in mind; make sure you put a slick tire on the back when you ride on the trainer, or you will have little bits of shredded rubber allllllll over the place. I speak from experience. As for which one to buy, you get what you pay for. You really don't need one with a remote as you can change gears on the bike to change resistance. I can recommend that you get one where there is a sort of lever on one side of the mounting mechanism that you lock and unlock as opposed to manually turning a handle to tighten and loosen the hold on the bike. I have a Blackburn Trackstand Fluid that I really hate because I have to turn a handle that is really hard to move to get the bike on and off. I used to have one that just locked on one side that was fantastic and was the best trainer I've ever had, but it got recalled :(
Here in the Bangor area we have red and yellow ones. I have yet to see a blue one though.
