Question:

Doed China import most of it's products from the U.S. like the U.S. does with them?

I highly doubt it. China is probably making most of it's own products and using them. So why must the U.S. import most of China's products? Just saw on the news a report on China's economy woes that stem directly from America's economy woes. It's suppose to be so bad for China manufactors right now, that they were quot;forced to close 450 companies there. Orders from the U.S. are said to be down 70%. That's a huge hit. They spoke with one company owner there who's considering just shutting down too. He's said to be losing quot;50 K a MONTHquot;. Just shows how much the U.S. is importing from China every day. So why can't the U.S. grow a brain and say hey, we should be putting our own people back to work by producing and using most of our goods right here in the U.S. . It happened centuries ago, why couldn't it happen now? Back then greed was rare in business, and most goods were made here. Now greed is the norm in business and just look at the mess that it has the country in.

Answer:

The first thing to understand is China is a Communist country with a free trade zone in and around Hong Kong. Most of those factories are actually owned by the government, not the supervisors who you saw being interviewed. Most of the privately owned factories in the free trade zone are owned by British or American Captialist. China produces most of the raw materials they need. They have vast resources on the Asian Continent. What they don't produce themselves, they import from regions of the world where it is cheaper than importing from the U.S. The finished goods are then sold in the U.S. The US. American companies can maximize profits by importing Cheaply made Chinese goods instead of manufacturing the same goods in the USA where labor cost are higher. Greed was just as strong in the Robber Barons of the past as it is in the Capitalist of today. The reason the jobs were in America is because the USA had tariffs and other taxes on imported goods that made them cost the same as domestically produced goods. There was no advantage to importing goods over domestic production. Today's congress has repealed the tariffs and taxes to maximize the profits of the American Capitalist.
No, it's Free trade, NOT Fair trade and it's the reason our middle class is shrinking, for example all Caterpillar excavators are made in Japan now, now that's a lot of high paying Middle Class jobs gone out of the country, Clinton started it with NAFTA, Bush continued it with CAFTA and Obama has signed THREE free trade deals since he's been in office, Obama refused to sign the deal for the oil pipeline from Canada ( killing thousands of high paying jobs), now China has signed a contract for that oil*************************************...
