I know to look around the backs of businesses and such, but I'm wondering if anybody knows where to specifically get pallets in Las Vegas, NV now? (I want to build the 'Pallet Shed')Thanks :)
The boards that you're supposed to break in martial arts exhibitions are not supposed to be pallets. They are normally pinewood boards that you can get at any martial arts supply store. I suggest that you only break boards that are designed to be broken with minimal damage to your hands.
Ace Hardware, Lowe's, Home Depot...
Pallets would be spectacularly poor for breaking. First, they are made of scrap woods that may include hardwood....Pretty darned tough. For breaking, you generally want a wide piece of 1 lumber, pine or other softwood, with the grain running the length of the board so when you hit it the board breaks in the same direction as the grain. In some areas they even sell karate boards which are already cut to an appropriate size (and in some cases, dried so that they break easier).
Pallets? For breaking?! In 3 days?! Um, I can't imagine a breaking routine that breaks them or breaks them apart. If you want one, go to a furniture store or a warehouse store and see if they have any extras lying around. You can also go to places like sears and home depot who sometimes deliver things that need to be on pallets. And you can go to your local recycling center who often take them from residents who just had a deliver of something that required a pallet. But I've never heard of breaking these things. I hope you know what you're doing! EDIT: Well, it's past March 19 - how did you do?
