I am trying to take out an engine to a 2000 Chrysler Seabring and i need to know if i can take it out through the top of the car and not jus through underneath the car. i was told i had to lift the car and take it out from underneath the car but i would like to take it out from the top. anyone ever done it that way before?
I'm not sure who told you the engine had to be dropped from the bottom but I can assure you they were mistaken. If the engine has been dismounted properly (disconnected from the tranny, etc) you should be able to work it out of vehicle with a bit of careful manuevering. There are very few vehicles on the road today that require the engine to be dropped out of the bottom of the car. Make sure you've got heavy grade chain and at least a 2 ton cherry picker (engine lift) to get it out. Keep a close eye on the rear of the picker, they tend to want to tip over.even with a smaller engine such as yours. Good luck!
