Does anyone know how to make church candy?
Potatoes, meat, carrots, celery, Onion Soup (Dry package), 1 can of Golden Mushroom Soup, 1 Can of water, 1 cup of cooking Sherry (Red), Put all ingredients in a crock pot for 6 hours, cook on LOW, I do mine from 10AM to 4 PMLet sit for 30 min this will make the sauce thicken.
There are several ways to do thema) put them in the casserole and add the meat, veggies and stock over topb) chop the spuds into bite sized pieces and stir in with the meat and veggies, and stir from time to timeTips a) Cook coveredb) Use a large stock pot and bring everything to the boil and reduce heat to a gentle simmerc) Timing is governed by the cut of meat.
You can try boiling them first, or covering them, but I would really recommend coating them well in olive oil before placing them in the oven.
When I make a pot roast I put the quartered potatoes, carrots, and onions in with the meat right at first, then put on a lid, for best results the pan should be large enough for the vegetables to lay around the meatBake at 350 for a couple hours or til the meat is doneThe vegetables will be done alsoI don't coat the potatoes in anythingThe ends should turn brownish and kind of caramelized which is the way they are suppose to be when roasting them in this wayYou could put a cup of water in at first if the meat does not have a lot of fat.
12 ozpackage chocolate chips 1 stick butter or margarine 12 ozbag colored miniature marshmallows 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional) 1 cup flaked coconut (optional) Cookie sheet, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, saucepanMelt butter in saucepan Add chocolate chips, stirring until melted Remove pan from heat and cool slightly While chocolate mixture is still melted, stir in marshmallows Line cookie sheet with aluminum foil Place plastic wrap on top of foil Spread mixture onto the center of the plastic wrap Wrap the candy mixture with wrap foil, making a log shape Place the candy log on the cookie sheet and refrigerateWhen it is chilled, unwrap and slice thinlyThe slices look like stained glass!
